When we have predefined number of fields for any form then we can use FormGroup but what if we need to construct a form that is more dynamic in nature i.e., we may come across some situation where we will be removing or adding fields much more frequently.

Let’s say we have to create a form for each and every student admitted in a particular class. On the very first day we need to store the data of single student only, which can easily be done using FormGroup but on the second day, the number of students increased to 10 . In these types of scenario we will be using FormArray to add fields dynamically as the number of students will keep on changing in this case.

Let's look at the example of FormGroup and FormArray.

Some of these methods are -

• push()
• clear()
• length
• at()
• removeAt()

Creating FormArray

First we will declare a FormGroup -

1. push(control: AbstractControl): void

push() method adds new FormControl in a FormArray at the end. It takes AbstractControl as parameter and returns nothing.

We will be adding student’s first and last name using pushFormGroup() function.

Now, getFormGroup() function will create a FormGroup as shown above and we will push it in the FormArray using push() method.

2. insert(index: number, controls: AbstractControl)

insert() method works differently then push() method of FormArray. It adds AbstractControl at specified index rather than adding it at the end. insert() method doesn’t return anything.

3. removeAt(index: number): void

removeAt() takes only index as parameter and removes AbstractControl from that specified index of FormArray.

Note: If index is greater than the length of the FormArray then removeAt() method will not generate any error.

4. at(index: number)

at() method takes index as parameter and returns the AbstractControl of the FormArray at that index.

5. length: number

length method returns the current length of FormArray.

6. clear(): void

clear() method removes all the controls of a FormArray. It returns void.

In the console of the above example, we can see the length of the control array of FormGroup is 0.

CSS Units are used to define length for CSS properties such as height, width, length, font size, etc.

CSS units are divided into two parts, the first one is "Length Number" and Second is "Length Unit" .

Ex : font-size :10px; where font-size is CSS property , 10 is Length Number and px(pixel) is length unit .

There are totally two types of CSS Length Units:

Absolute Lengths Unit-

Absolute length units specify a length that is not relative to another length property. So, the length expressed in any of the absolute length units is fixed will appear as exactly that size.

As the name suggests Relative length units are relative to their other element. Assume a scenario where you have to define a child element inside their parent element, and here you want to give the width to the child i.e 60% of the body .then here the concept of relative length unit comes into the picture.

CSS Syntax:

HTML has tags & CSS has selectors. Selectors are the names given to styles in internal and external style sheets.

There are specific types of selectors in CSS, let's take a closer look at them:

• Universal Selector: It selects all the HTML elements of the web page. It is represented using *.

Ex: * { color: blue; }

This will change the text colour to blue for all the html elements on the page.

• Class Selector: It selects the HTML elements that contains the class name followed by period character. It is represented using period character(.)

Syntax: .class_name { property: value }

Ex: <h1 class="check1"> My colour is changed.</h1>

CSS: .check1{ color: green;}

In above example, the colour of the text changes as it access the class name & change the properties.

• ID Selector: It is used to select the specific element using the id attribute of HTML element. It is represented using #.

Important: ID name can't start with a number.

Syntax:
#id_name { property: value }

Ex: <h1 id="unique"> My colour is changed.</h1>

CSS: #unique{ color: pink;}

In above example, the colour of the H1 changes as it access the id name & change the properties.

• Type Selector: It is used to target specific HTML elements via its name & change the properties.

Ex: <h1> My colour is changed.</h1>

CSS: h1{ color: yellow;}

In above example, we are directly accessing the html tag H1 & changing its properties i.e. colour of the text changes to yellow here.

• Grouping Selector: It selects all the HTML elements having the same styling definitions at once. (Importance: Minimising code) We need to separate each selector with a comma.

Ex:

<body>
<a> I am link.</a>  
<h6> I am heading 6.</h6> 
<p> My colour is yellow. checking group selector working </p></body>

CSS: Instead of doing this:

a{ color: blue;}

h6{ color: blue;}

p{ color: blue;}

We do this:

h1,h6,p{ color: blue;}

In above example, we are directly accessing the html tags a, h6, p & changing their styling as they all have same definitions so we have grouped them using group selector.

• Pseudo-class & Pseudo-element selector: It is used to define special state of any particular element and pseudo-elements are used to specify particular parts of the elements.

Pseudo-class syntax:

selector:pseudo-class {
  property: value;
}

Pseudo-element syntax:

selector:pseudo-element {
  property: value;
}

Let's say if we want to change the style of an element here button when the user hovers over the button then all of that can be done using these pseudo-classes & elements.

button:hover {
  color: red;
}

Here the color of the button changes to red when the user's pointer hovers over it.

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheet, a web document that allows us to alter the HTML page's design and make it more attractive.

By alter, I mean size, style, color, background, height, width, margin, padding and rest all the properties whatever you want to change. You will learn more about what CSS can do in this series.

Advantage of Using CSS

1. Page Load Faster as it reduces the file transfer size.

2. Can be rendered on multiple devices of different screen-ratios.

3. Easy to maintain because we can maintain separate files for them.

4. Saves a lot of time as different properties can be re-used for group of HTML elements.

How its applied??

CSS is applied by declaring specific styles for each element in a web page. And that's how the style declaration looks like:

selector {
     property: value;
}

We will look more about it, but first let's see about how to apply.

There are three methods to apply CSS in HTML document.

1. Inline Styling
2. Internal Linking
3. External Linking

1. Inline Styling

Inline styles are written with the HTML tags using the style attribute which looks something like this:

<p style="color: blue">text</p>

This will make that specific paragraph blue.

2. Internal Linking

These are used for the whole page. The style tags are inside the head element that surround all of the styles for the page.

These are used for the whole and multiple-page website. There is a separate CSS file like this:

This file is saved as "styles.css" in the same directory as HTML page then we will link it with the HTML file like this:

The most efficient way is external linking as it avoid mishaps & give clarity of code when you are changing the styles in future too.

Suppose you want to add a paragraph to a web page and the text of that paragraph says "This is a paragraph". Wrap with HTML paragraph tags. So the HTML code looks like this:

<p>This is Remote State.</p>

All you need to create a paragraph element in HTML is these three. Most HTML elements are the same: start tags, end tags, and content in between. Some HTML elements, such as (break), have only one start tag. These are called empty tags.

Element names are not case sensitive. That is, it can be written in uppercase, lowercase, or a combination of both. You can also write. However, it is considered best practice to always write the name in lowercase.

HTML Attribute

All HTML elements require tags, but very few require attributes. Attributes provide additional information about HTML elements, which may or may not be required. For example, an image element always requires a source attribute whose value is the URL or file path of the image. Otherwise, the browser will not know which image to display.

The same is true for the anchor element used to create hyperlinks. It must contain a href attribute with a value that indicates the target of the link. Otherwise, when the visitor clicks on the anchor elements, the browser does not send them anywhere.

It is not necessary to include other attributes, but it is considered a best practice. For example, a browser can render an image without the alt attribute, which contains alt text for the image. However, visually impaired readers may find it difficult to understand what the image conveys without a description of the alternative text.

Now that you understand the meaning of the attribute, make sure you understand how to find and write the attribute. The attribute is always in the start tag of the HTML element and the syntax is name = "value".

Many elements have unique attributes that affect how content is rendered on the page. The attributes can be written in any order within the start tag.However, you cannot have multiple instances of the same attribute within the same HTML tag. Before considering creating an HTML file, let's take a look at the tools you need.

How to use HTML

To get started with HTML, you need a text editor such as Notepad ++ or Sublime Text. HTML files are in standard text format, so any plain text editor will work. However, in this demo, Sublime Text works on Mac and Windows, so we'll use that editor to walk the process.

Step 1: Download the latest version of Sublime Text. Go to the Sublime Text download page and click on your operating system. The ZIP file will be downloaded.

Step 2: Open Sublime Text. Open the ZIP file and click Sublime Text in the download folder. The editor will open automatically.

Step 3: Add HTML. Copy the following HTML code and paste it into Notepad. The following sections explain the meaning of each of these elements.

Now that you know how to use the HTML editor, let's take a look at how to write the actual code.

How to create an HTML file

To create a website using HTML, you must first create an HTML file. This file contains all the HTML code for your website and will be uploaded to your web server. Thus, when a visitor searches a website, the server sends an HTML file to the visitor's browser, which renders the page accordingly.

The following is an example of a simple HTML file that a beginner can create. Combine the code written in the steps above.

The main attribute of this HTML tag is the href (see hypertext) attribute, which places the link to the linked website. Another attribute is the target. You can use it to open a link in a new window, which prevents users from focusing on the current page.

How does HTML work?

HTML is usually kept in files that use the .htm or .html extension. A web page can consist of hundreds or even thousands of these HTML files which are stored in different folders. When you visit a website, The server sends its HTML files to your browser.

Then your browser reads the HTML code in the files and displays it. Some web applications do not use static HTML but generate it in response to specific actions on their servers. We may also add other types of content, such as CSS and JavaScript files, images and videos, to add more functionality to the site. CSS allows us to add stylistic elements (like colors) to a web page. JavaScript allows interaction. Together, these three languages ​​form the foundation of web development.

What is HTML used for?

Now that you understand HTML tags and elements, and the updates introduced by HTML5, let's take a closer look at what you can do with this language.

Structure website: You can use tags and elements to define web page headings, paragraphs, and other content. The browser has a built-in style sheet that visually distinguishes these elements. The content enclosed in tags is in a large, bold font with its own lines. Text enclosed in tags will be bold and slightly smaller than the element. Without these tags, all the text on a web page looks the same.

Internet surfing Without HTML: Navigating the web would be much more difficult. Imagine you have to manually enter the URL of each web page you want to access. This is the reality without anchor tags. HTML anchor tags allow you to link pages using the href attribute. Here is an example:

As you can imagine, the code snippet above creates a hyperlink to Google. You can also use hyperlinks to link to specific sections of a web page.

Embed images and videos: You can not only embed an image in a web page, but also customize the width, height, position, and even rendering method of the image. Previously, developers used Flash to embed video in web pages. But, with HTML5's addition of tag it's no longer needed.

In addition to embedding video, you can use other HTML attributes to customize video controls, timestamps, thumbnails, autoplay, and more.

Improved client-side data storage and offline capabilities: HTML5 has also improved the language's offline capabilities. Websites use cookies to store information about you that you can retrieve when you visit the site again. Cookies are good for small data such as authentication tokens and usernames, but adding localStorage and IndexDB to HTML5 allows browsers to store more complex data.

In addition, the application cache and cache manifest files, which can be referenced from HTML, allow users to browse websites offline by storing data on their computers. This allows the web app to continue to work even if the user is disconnected.

Game development: You can't create a video game using HTML, but you can use the element to create a video game in your browser using CSS and JavaScript. Previously, this was only possible with Flash or Silverlight. But with modern HTML, you can create both 2D and 3D games that run in your browser.

Interaction with native API: Another feature of HTML is that it can interact with the operating system as well as the web browser. With these features, you can drag files to web pages to upload or view videos in full screen.

What profession is using HTML?

All aspiring web developers need to be proficient in HTML. Front-end engineers use HTML (along with other languages ​​such as CSS and JavaScript) to develop the structure and layout of webpage and application. Similarly, mobile developers use these languages ​​in frameworks such as Ionic and React Native to build mobile applications. Back end engineers should also be familiar with HTML.

Even if other languages ​​in the tech stack generate HTML, you need to understand the HTML structure to do everything smoothly. Also, use HTML outside the Internet, such as intranets and internal applications. Therefore, even if you are programming for offline purposes, you still need to learn HTML. Some marketers use it for blogging and email, which can be beneficial to non-technical teams as well.
